The Crown Jewel of Northern Utah Single Track

American Fork Canyon (AFC) is where Utah riders go to test their skills on legitimate mountain single track. Unlike the desert riding down south, AFC offers high-altitude technical riding through aspen groves, across alpine meadows, and over exposed ridgelines with 360-degree views.

Why AFC is Special

Ridge Trail 157 is the backbone of the trail system - a 15.7-mile masterpiece that traverses the ridgeline between American Fork Canyon and Mineral Basin. This isn’t your typical dirt bike trail; it’s purpose-built single track that demands skill, fitness, and respect for the mountain.

Trail Highlights

Ridge Trail 157 (Intermediate to Expert)

The main attraction. Starting from either Tibble Fork or Cascade Springs, this trail climbs through technical switchbacks before opening up to flowing ridge-top single track. Rocky sections will test your clutch control, while the exposure will test your nerves. The views of Mount Timpanogos are worth every bit of effort.

Forest Lake Loop (Intermediate)

A fantastic 12-mile loop that takes you past pristine alpine lakes. The trail features everything from flowing meadow sections to technical rock gardens. The descent back to Tibble Fork includes some of the best natural rock slabs in the state.

Mineral Basin Descent (Expert Only)

If you’re looking for consequences, this is your trail. Steep, loose, and littered with baby heads, this descent from the Ridge Trail down to Mineral Basin Ski Area is not for the faint of heart. Your suspension better be dialed.
